Configure Sales Tax and Product Tax Rates

Set up tax before taking live sales. Mintcom supports a default sales tax and custom rates assigned to products; tax treatment should match your business requirements.

Set Up Your Rates

1. Open Dashboard > Settings and find Taxes.

2. Review the standard default Sales Tax.

3. Add a named custom rate when some products need a different rate.

4. Enter the percentage carefully and save. For a rate of ten percent, enter 10 in the percentage field.

5. Review each product's tax assignment and the establishment's tax-inclusive pricing setting.

6. Check the business tax ID and receipt display settings.

Verify Before Going Live

Create a controlled order containing products with different rates. Confirm the subtotal, discount, tax, and final amount on both the checkout screen and receipt. Include an add-on and a discounted item in the check.

Inclusive and Exclusive Prices

With tax-inclusive pricing, the listed price includes the tax component. With tax-exclusive pricing, tax is added to the taxable amount. Confirm the selected setting rather than changing product prices to compensate for an unexpected total.

Changing or Removing Rates

The default rate cannot be deleted. Review the impact warning before removing a custom rate: assigned products can fall back to the default Sales Tax. Check affected products after the change.

Accounting and Compliance

Use Settings tax/accounting options for your configured workflow. Software configuration alone does not establish legal compliance. Confirm the applicable rates and invoice requirements with your accountant or relevant authority.
