Understand Roles and Permissions

Mintcom uses role-based access control so each user sees only the screens and actions they are allowed to use.

Permission Groups

- POS permissions: Process sales, apply discounts, make refunds, open drawer, manage held orders, use loyalty, and reprint receipts.

- Back-office permissions: View reports, manage inventory, manage payment methods, manage employees, manage settings, export data, and manage billing.

- Route access: Dashboard pages such as Products, Reports, Staff, Settings, Billing, Loyalty, and Activity Logs are protected by permission checks.

Create a Custom Role

1. Open Dashboard > Custom Roles or the owner role area, depending on your access level.

2. Name the role after the job, not the person.

3. Select the smallest set of permissions needed.

4. Save the role and assign it to staff.

5. Test with a non-owner account before relying on it in production.

Practical Examples

- A cashier should not usually manage settings or see full financial reports.

- A stock manager may need product, category, add-on, material, and recipe access without refund rights.

- An owner should periodically review roles after staff changes.
